Daily credits come back at midnight UTC and are used first. A plan’s credits refill every month and don’t carry over. Prices are in pounds; plans bought in the iPhone app are billed by Apple at its prices.
The Confab API
Confab’s chat model and Confab Image from your own code are free while the API is in beta, within its rate limits. When pricing starts, requests are paid from the same Confab balance, and you can set a monthly limit. About the Confab API
Questions
- Do I need a plan?
- No. Everyone gets 300 credits every day, with everything in Confab. Plus, Pro and Max add credits every month on top, and the daily credits are used first.
- What are credits?
- What Confab runs is paid for in credits: a chat by its length, on the model that answered, and pictures, film clips, 3D models, music, speech and a new website at set amounts. Daily credits come back at midnight UTC. A plan’s credits refill every month from the day it started, a yearly plan’s too, and don’t carry over.
- Which models can I use?
- Qwen3.8 27B from Alibaba (the default), Gemma 4 26B from Google and gpt-oss-20b from OpenAI. They are open models that Confab runs on its own machines. With Your own models, the models on your own server too.
- What is Your own models?
- An add-on for £10 a month on any plan. Give Confab the address of your own server with an OpenAI-style API (Ollama, llama.cpp, vLLM, LM Studio and the like) and its key, and pick its models in Confab on your iPhone, the web and your computer. Confab’s server calls yours, so it has to be reachable from the internet. Chats on your own models use none of your credits.
- Can I cancel?
- Yes, any time: in Settings, Plans & credits, or in your App Store subscriptions for a plan bought on iPhone. A plan runs to the end of the period you paid for. Switching to another plan settles the difference for the rest of the period straight away.
- I bought Claude credit. What happens to it?
- It stays in your account, in Billing in the app. Claude isn’t in Confab for now, so the credit can’t be spent at the moment.
- Is the Confab API free?
- Yes, while it is in beta, within the rate limits shown in the Confab Console. When pricing starts, API use comes from the same Confab balance, and a monthly spend limit can stop it before it goes past.
